HYDE PARK
TRADITIONAL CHARACTER AND THOUGHTFUL STORAGE

Project Type: Residential Interior Design
Location: Hyde Park, Tampa, Florida
Design Focus:
Traditional interiors, tailored bedrooms, custom closet storage and comfortable living spaces
Project Details:
In Tampa’s historic Hyde Park neighborhood, Crespo Design Group designed the bedrooms, closets and living spaces of this traditional home to make better use of its square footage. The project brings practical storage and comfortable furnishings into rooms with established architectural character. White millwork, dark wood floors and richly colored walls provide a consistent backdrop, while upholstered pieces, layered textiles and carefully placed lighting make the spaces inviting. The result supports daily routines and gives the owners a functional, luxurious place to live. The main bedroom pairs a gray upholstered bed with a pale rug and a light lounge chair. Dark curtains span the wall behind the bed, giving the room a soft backdrop and a sense of enclosure.
White cabinetry along the side wall combines open display areas with closed storage, helping furnishings and personal belongings share the room comfortably. A ceiling fan, bedside lighting and reflective surfaces add useful elements without overwhelming the traditional details.
A second bedroom takes a different approach to color while keeping the same comfortable scale. A blue upholstered bed stands against deep green walls, with white window trim providing a crisp contrast. Lamps on the bedside chests create pools of warm light, and artwork above the bed draws the eye between the windows. A small bench at the foot of the bed adds another useful piece of furniture. The adjoining bathroom is visible through an open doorway, reinforcing the room’s relationship to the surrounding spaces.
The walk-in closet is a central example of the project’s emphasis on function. White built-in cabinetry uses the room’s perimeter for hanging space, shelving and drawers. A freestanding island provides additional drawers and a clear surface for organizing clothing and accessories. Open shelves keep selected items visible, while closed drawers provide places to put smaller belongings away. Dark flooring grounds the pale cabinetry and connects the closet with the home’s other rooms.
Mirrored cabinet doors reflect the light and the storage arrangement, making it easier to see clothing while getting dressed. A pendant above the island brings light to the center of the room, and a window introduces daylight alongside the built-ins. The mix of hanging rails, open shelves and drawer storage accommodates different needs within one orderly arrangement. These details give the closet a finished interior character as well as a practical role in everyday life.
In the living space, a substantial white fireplace surround preserves the home’s traditional vocabulary. Abstract artwork above the mantel adds a contemporary accent, while a black chair and nearby wood desk create distinct places to sit and work. Green walls and dark flooring carry the palette beyond the bedrooms and closet. Throughout the project, Crespo Design Group balances established architecture with thoughtful furnishing and storage decisions, shaping a Hyde Park home that feels comfortable, organized and ready for daily use.
