Big news! Benjamin Moore just released their new paint color for 2016.
The 2016 Color of the Year is… Simply White OC-117.
The question on many people’s minds is, “will this be the paint color that will both decorate walls and influence interior design here in Tampa for the next few years?”
It’s a compelling question, especially as Simply White has turned out to be a bit of a controversial choice. There are some who absolutely love the choice and others who scratch their head wondering why “white” won color of the year over so many other contenders.
At Crespo Design Group, we think the choice is brilliant. Simply White is both understated and powerful at the same time, a timeless color choice that is complimentary with the other colors within a room – friendly and clean, not stark and sterile.
The white allows other colors of your furnishings, fabrics and accessories to come forward or blend in depending on the design approach. We think it’s impact on interior decorating and design across Tampa Bay will take hold and have a lasting affect. Just imagine how the Florida sunlight can play with #simplywhite !
Ellen O’Neill, Benjamin Moore Creative Director, explains her take…

“The color white is transcendent, timeless, and its versatility is unmatched.”
“From weathered wainscoting to crisp canvas shades, porcelain tile to picket fences, white is everywhere in every form — it was inevitable we pick Simply White to be our Color of the Year.”

Such a versatile choice
The reality is that the choice is such a versatile one. Owners of Florida homes from Hyde Park to Belleair Beach to Longboat Key can utilize Simply White and its corresponding palette of 23 colors to capture the look and feel of their desired design.
We believe personal styles of the home owners can be enhanced and influenced by white’s underlying strength. And even for those client’s who are opposed to white, it offers a chance to better define conversation between owner and clients about likes, dislikes and the design concept their striving for.
But imagine a Davis Island home with it’s back veranda doors thrown open to a bold, blue sky and dark green bay. Match that with a white interior background, with complementing pieces, and the overall look can be absolutely stunning!
